Town Hall Consultation
Todmorden’s Grade One listed Town Hall is the subject of a new consultation by Calderdale Council. The council is seeking views from as many people as possible, both local and visiting, to understand what the town hall means to the town and it’s visitors.
Calderdale’s Linear Park
You may not know it but there is a linear park in Calderdale and it’s been there for a very long time. You have probably walked through it. You may have cycled along it, boated along it, crossed over it, even fished at the side of it. Its name is the Rochdale Canal. The 11-mile stretch between Walsden in the west and Sowerby Bridge in the east is one of the important connecting links snakes through the Upper Calder Valley accompanied by the road, river and railway. A common reference point used by many in the area, the canal is potentially, a great leisure amenity which could attract and encourage tourism.
Walsden Train Station Cuts
A significant reduction in rail services is planned by Northern Rail for the train station in Walsden. Todmorden Pride have written to Northern Rail to express our views and ask for more information regarding the planned cuts in service.
Todmorden Pride’s work to date has been towards positive developments, but we are also concerned to ensure that no backward steps might be taken which would adversely affect the efforts that we and other organisations are making to aid the regeneration of Todmorden and its surrounding areas, such as Walsden. Transport links are an essential element in the viability of existing communities and the attractiveness for redevelopment of a given area relative to another.
